Join us every THIRD Sunday of the month at 6:00pm for Youth Fellowship!
Our youth have been back in gear since August ! We kicked off the year by taking a group to the District Youth Rally held at Aldersgate UMC in Charlottesville. It was a fun day of games with other youth from across the district but we also got to participate in a service project - to pack health kits for conference. We concluded the day with a worship service including communion and a message from Jeff Williams about how God expects us to behave as Christians.
At our meeting in September, the fall weather was SO beautiful that we took our meeting outdoors and enjoyed a bonfire and s’mores as well as some games and a lesson on relying on God.
In October we met at church and, after a rousing game of Spoons, began a discussion on WISDOM - one of the twelve Lakota virtues from the book “The Lakota Way” by Joseph Marshall. We will continue exploring these virtues throughout the year, as well as making plans for some of our youth to join the Lakota Mission Team from Church of the Good Shepherd UMC this summer to travel to Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Most recently, we met to fill the candy bags to be given out during Trunk of Treats here at the church...then we traveled out to have a little spooky fun at the Creepy Hollow Hayride ! Our youth have been increasing the size of our group by inviting their friends to attend, so it has been a fun and exciting time !
