United Methodist Women

All women of the church are invited to attend the meetings of the Mineral United Methodist Women. The group meets at 10 A.M. at Gibson Hall on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from September through May. However, in December the group has a Christmas luncheon at noon, and in June the women usually meet for a picnic at a member’s home. No meetings are generally held in July and August. This group of ladies funds their various mission projects by holding the annual fall bazaar and the sale of pecans, cashews, and chocolate covered pecans. A craft groups meets periodically throughout the year to make items for sale at the annual bazaar which is held the first Saturday in November.

The group sponsors a child through Christian Children's Fund and supplies books and reading material for the church library. School, health and/or baby kits are donated to the Virginia Conference to be used by those in need. Church members who are shut-ins are treated to home-baked cookies delivered to them during the Christmas season, as well as meals and other help when needed throughout the year. Several members also attend District meetings at various times during the year.

All church members are invited to check the library for books to read for your own enjoyment or as part of the UMW reading program. The library is expanding, and we have again purchased new books for you to borrow.
