MUMC Empty Nesters

Mineral UMC “Empty Nesters”

This group is composed of active folks whose children have “left the nest” and now are able to enjoy the freedom of doing what they want to do, when they want to do it in a faith based environment. The group is a free flowing, relatively unstructured gathering of fun loving couples enjoying a variety of activities such as bowling, pizza nights, a chili cook off contest, dinner theater, and community concerts as well as doing things in support the Church.

There are a lot of “empty nesters” relocating to the Lake Anna /Mineral area. If you qualify, join us at Mineral UMC and watch this space for upcoming events!

The Empty Nesters Are Rollin’ Along !!
Kay W. says we now have a group of thirty-five people signed up for our bus trip to the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on September 22-23, 2010. If anyone has missed signing up for this bus trip to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, tour Amish country, stay at the Heritage Hotel, and do scrumptious eating, please give her a phone call (894-8163). We still have room for a few more if you would like to go.

The October event for the Empty Nesters will be an autumn foliage trip to Syria, VA to have lunch in the Graves Mountain Lodge and Restaurant. There will also be an opportunity to visit the gift shop, buy apples and cider and enjoy all the wonders of the fall season. The cost is $14 per person including tax and tip. Because we need to make reservations, a sign-up sheet will be placed on the table at the back of the church in October. Georgia and Dave P. are making the arrangement for this Wednesday, October 20th event. Money and reservation (see sign up sheet in October) is due to Georgia or Dave P. by October 10. Gift shop items include preserves and jellies, tee shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry and other unique country gifts. The lunch is served family style.

It’s still a couple months away, but if you’d like to attend the Handbell Concert at the Louisa Arts Center on Sat. evening Dec. 17th, tickets need to be purchased NOW. They are selling fast. The cost for seniors is $12; regular tickets are $18. This group is back by popular demand from their performance in 2008. Carol S. will purchase tickets for all those who pay her by Oct. 3 or you can take a chance and purchase your own tickets at the same price later -i f they’re still available.

As you can see, we have a great group and a busy schedule. Let us know if you want to join in some of our activities. All are welcome to join us if you’re available on the dates and times we have arranged.
